LI Webinar: Churchill Way, The Canal Quarter

Summary

At this interactive webinar Ben Ferguson from Atkins will talk through the history and the design for his latest project – Churchill Way, The Canal Quarter. Commissioned by Cardiff City Council, this new landmark public space will celebrate and reimagine a long-forgotten part of the city’s maritime history, which has lain covered for decades. Located in the heart of Cardiff city centre, The Canal Quarter will unveil, enhance and celebrate the dock-feeder canal with a variety of sustainable and exciting interventions.

Louise Ball, Associate Landscape Architect, Tetra Tech

Louise Ball is an Associate Landscape Architect at Tetra Tech (formerly WYG and WTGL).  Since joining WTGL as a junior assistant in 2000 Louise obtained LI membership in 2014 via the portfolio route and became Chartered in 2017.  Over the last 20 years she has led the landscape input to many regeneration, residential and later living projects in Cardiff and across South Wales.  She provides landscape advice on projects from inception through to completion, with a particular emphasis on the integration of sustainable drainage following the implementation of the SAB legislation in Wales.  Her passion is to undertake a collaborative approach to placemaking with a focus on green and blue infrastructure, biodiversity and sustainability. Louise is currently Chair of the Landscape Institute Wales.

Ben Ferguson, Senior Landscape Architect, Atkins

Ben is an award-winning and chartered, Landscape Architect with 10 years of post-graduate experience. Ben’s primary employer has been Atkins, where he has worked in the Bahrain, London and Warrington offices with on-site experience in the Cairngorms National Park.

He has a wealth of experience across the UK and internationally, working on high profile projects, including; Churchill Way, Crossrail, The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Thames Tideway, the Crown Estate, A9 Dualling, the City of Light in Morocco and KAAR in Saudi Arabia.

In 2019 Ben was awarded with the Pro Landscaper 30 Under 30 Award for his individual professional experience.
