This masterclass recording will highlight typical urban situations where tree plantings are essential for the function and use of a space, offering key insights and arguments for selecting the right tree.
Speakers
Dr Henrik Sjöman
Henrik’s work is mainly focusing on developing knowledge of site-adapted plant use for urban environments including private gardens as well as public parks. How the capacity of different trees will vary in context to its environment and in delivering important ecosystem services has become the prime driver in Henrik’s work and as such how to extend the knowledge of diversifying our treescapes in parks and gardens. His approach in teaching and research is to develop a language we can use for sustainable plant use with clear guidance on what makes some plants better than others.

Carl Reeders
Originally from South Africa, Carl started his career in agricultural equipment sales, working with industry leaders like John Deere and Case, before moving into the landscape sector. He has always enjoyed manufacturing, focusing on high-quality products made for professionals in specialised industries. His time at Platipus has taken him around the world, where he has gathered unprecedented knowledge and experience in the anchoring of newly planted semi to fully mature trees in conventional and challenging situations. This has allowed him to perfect a set of best practices for tree anchoring that he shares with his ever-growing network of global landscape professionals.
