1. Natural Capital: changing the way we are thinking

Summary

In Scotland, Natural Capital is changing the way we are thinking in the NGO, government and business worlds. One major driver is the Natural Capital Protocol – a decision-making framework that enables organisations to identify, measure and value their direct and indirect impacts and dependencies on natural capital. Dougie will cover some examples of the use and refinement of the Protocol and other natural capital approaches, the status of natural capital, and the future of natural capital thinking in Scotland.

Dougie Peedle

Dougie Peedle is Head of Policy at Scottish Wildlife Trust – the leading nature conservation charity in Scotland. Dougie was previously Chief Economic Adviser to the Jersey government for 14 years and previously worked as an economist in London for 10 years at the CBI, EEF and Rio Tinto. Dougie is also currently a member of the Aberdeen City Council Economic Policy Panel and an Economic Associate for Pro Bono Economics.
