Day 2.1 Keynote: National Model Design Code explained

Summary

The session will outline the background to the code, the objective to raising design quality of the places and homes through use of coding to be employed by local planning authorities as a toolkit so that it can be applied as a process and tailored to the needs of the context. The focus will be on the landscape aspects of national design guidance and the code.

Chair: Jane Findlay CMLI PLI, President of the Landscape Institute



Jane Findlay is a Landscape Architect, the founding director of Fira and President of the Landscape Institute. She is an experienced masterplanner and designer of large and Complex infrastructure projects for education residential, transportation, life sciences and commercial developments. Jane has a particularly experienced in the design of the healing landscape for healthcare and has de-livered some of the most complex healthcare projects in the UK.

 

Andy Von Bradsky, Director, Von Bradsky Enterprises



Andy is an architect with over 30 years’ experience in the design and delivery of housing for the private and public sector. Previously a consultant at the Ministry of Housing Communities and Local Government advising on design quality, housing supply and estate regeneration programmes, he was appointed Head of Architecture at MHCLG in March 2019. He has recently retired from the position and re-established his consultancy, von Bradsky Enterprises.
