This session considers the pressing need for change in our sector to address the Climate and Biodiversity Emergency. If we’re to design and manage carbon neutral (or even, positive) projects, we will need new tools to enable this in practice. Understand the possibilities for mitigation, adaptation, resilience and design for change, appreciate the opportunities that digital practice can afford and recognise why a move towards long-term, holistic thinking around landscape projects is critical – including the hugely significant management phase.
Attendees will:
Romy Rawlings CMLI is a Chartered Landscape Architect and UK Business Development Manager for Vestre, a Norwegian manufacturer of street furniture. Romy’s 25- year career has been based in the landscape sector, and she is passionate about the impact of good design upon those using outdoor space, believing that landscape architects are well placed to counter many of today’s global issues. Romy is Honorary Secretary for the Landscape Institute and Chair of their Diversity & Inclusion working group.
Mike Shilton CMLI is the Chair of the Landscape Institute Digital Practice Group (formerly BIM Working Group) and has been an active member of the Group since its inception in 2012. Mike contributed to the "BIM for Landscape" book, which he helped project manage to publication, and has been heavily involved with its subsequent promotion. Mike has been working with other experts to offer advice and guidance to the profession in respect of BIM and emerging digital technologies in relation to landscape design and construction. He is a chartered member of landscape architect and Product Director at Keysoft Solutions, where he provides the focus for future development of their BIM enabled, traffic management and landscape design software.
