Landscape architects possess the technical skills and knowledge to play a major role in tackling the climate and biodiversity crisis but our most important role may be to engage and inspire others with the natural world. Can climate and biodiversity issues be approached from the bottom up? How can landscape architects help people see that their ‘place’ and local environment no matter how modest is already part of the natural.

Anthony McGuigan, CMLI, MCIOB, is a Landscape Architect and Director at The Paul Hogarth Company, a passionate team of Landscape Architects, Urban Designers and Planners. He has significant experience in delivering design, interpretation, and community participation projects at a local and national scale across the UK and Ireland. Anthony’s recent work includes The Wild Atlantic Way and Connswater Community Greenway, and he received the Landscape Institute President’s Award in 2019 for ‘What’s Growing On The Greenway’ blog and book. Anthony is passionate about helping connect communities and places to the natural world, and the social benefits of sustainable design solutions.
