Summary

The government’s Port of Liverpool Access Scheme is being led by National Highways, formerly Highways England. Its road proposal is set to bulldoze Rimrose Valley Country Park in North Liverpool, the last remaining space of its kind in a heavily urbanised part of the city.

A campaign began in 2017 with the simple aim of saving a much-loved piece of green space.

As time has gone on, campaigners have learned how this is linked to the wider issues of transport policy, public health, politics, big business and even the climate emergency… and just how much is at stake.

We’ll be hearing from Stuart Bennett, coordinator of the campaign, about how they are fighting a government-led road proposal in North Liverpool.

He has used the skills acquired from a variety of previous roles to raise awareness of this major environmental issue, working with a team of committed volunteers.
