4. Parks of today: Taking on the challenge (part 2)

Summary

With deep funding cuts to local government over the past decade and no statutory protection, park managers are struggling to maintain and improve public parks. This presentation will draw on historically-informed research projects; Nicola will present the main findings from the 3-year Sheffield IWUN project to examine the implications of health findings for policymakers and practitioners.

Dr Nicola Dempsey

Dr Nicola Dempsey is Senior Lecturer at the University of Sheffield. Nicola is currently an investigator on the 3-year NERC-funded Improving Wellbeing through Urban Nature research project, examining how interventions are affected by decisionmaking, policy, funding and landscape management processes. Nicola also sits on the Management Committee of the Sheffield Green Spaces Forum.
