7. Parks International: Learning from innovations abroad

Summary

The challenges faced by parks are not unique to England. Across the globe, parks and green space managers are finding innovative ways to deal with the day-to-day issues of managing their sites. Carl and Dave will showcase just some of the many examples of international approaches in this interactive session, that will also explore options for improving sharing of learning and good practice.

Dave Solly and Carl McClean

Dave Solly is Senior Adviser of Green Infrastructure for the Parks Action Group. He previously worked as an adviser for the Countryside Agency. Dave was also involved in the development of the 2016 Pocket Parks programme while on secondment to MHCLG. He is an invited Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute and a Fellow of the Countryside Management Association, the professional body for countryside and urban green space rangers and managers.

Carl McClean is the International Development Manager for Keep Britain Tidy’s Green Flag Award. An experienced horticulturalist and landscape manager, Carl’s career has focused on developing and maintaining public green spaces for their benefits to people and wildlife.
