Future of Parks: Skills, Innovation and Creativity for C21st Challenges

The recent COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the important of good quality, well-managed parks within our cities and towns. The skills and capacity required to manage these spaces, demonstrate their value, unlock their communal benefits and secure much-needed investment has also become clear. These unprecedented times have underlined the demand for new skills in greenspace management to deliver on key challenges, such as climate change, nature restoration and tackling inequality.

The Landscape Institute will host this two-day event alongside the Midlands Park Forum to explore what these skills look like and how practitioners can best acquire them. This skill-building conference will cover consultation and community engagement techniques, methods of influencing, collaboration, innovation and leadership. Led by a roster of real practitioners with real-world examples, the event will provide a route map for parks and landscape managers to chart their future development needs – and uncover how to make green space count.
